Started Dogs
The right dog is waiting for you
Occasionally throughout the year we have started dogs available. They range in age from 8 months to older, mature dogs. Most are pups that we have kept from litters based on the request of folks that do not want to go through the puppy stages.
As with all our puppies we initiate their training a week after birth with our imprinting process. As they grow, we add quartering, retrieving, obedience, introduction to flushing and shot birds. The started dog training process is an ongoing step by step process and most of the youngsters will be ready to go hunting. Those that are over a year old will likely have had a season at our hunting lodge in South Dakota.
It is best to visit the kennel to watch the dogs in action in the field. That way we can get a connection with a dog that likes you and that we think will bond well with you. Although started dogs already have fairly set personalities, they will adjust to their new routine upon going home to a new owner. It has been proven repeatedly that no matter the age of the started dog they bond quickly to new owners.
Meet
Taft
DOB: 06/12/2024
Taft is a black and white male, tall and streamlined in body structure. He carries himself well with a high tail and alert head. He is very attentive and aware of the activity around him. He is very strong in the field, hunts within gun range and has strong nose and natural ability to retrieve. He is progressing very well for his age and will be ready for his first full hunting season this fall.

Flax
DOB: 03/20/2024
Flax is a liver and white female, medium height well structured dog. She has been training well, quartering within range, easy to control and likes to be around people. She is an easy dog to handle and be around. She is very friendly, not an over active dog at all and will adapt well to being in the house, traveling in a vehicle and comfortable in most situations.
She was spayed in early May 2025.

Coolidge
DOB: 06/12/2024
Coolidge is a liver and white female. She is a very active high energy female with a strong presence in the field. She enjoys the training and learning new things. Ever inquisitive, checking things out and active in all she does.
She is a strong retriever, good delivery and obedient to commands. She is learning to hunt within gun range, find and flush birds and work with the handler.
